Farewell to Marj and Neville

Saying Goodbye to Marj and Neville

About 10 years ago Marj and Neville Cave moved to Cootamundra from Marsfield, Sydney.

Their original plan was to visit the various churches in town and find a new church to attend on a Sunday. They had a few contacts at this church and decided to renew these contacts first, having done this they then came here first to check us out. They have not yet visited the other churches in Cootamundra and as they are now packed and ready to head to WA …….

On Sunday 25th May 2019 they came here for a farewell service, Paul Ballard was the scheduled worship leader for the day and invited Neville to deliver the homily, Neville accepted and addressed the message of trusting Jesus as the man by the pool in Bethesda had done (John 5:1-9).

Following worship we joined in fellowship in Dickson Hall with refreshments aplenty and a time to talk and share.

During their time in Cootamundra they had both joined in activities in the church Neville taking services here in Cootamundra and surrounding towns. Marj as a keen and experienced musician started a choir and put on many musicals, “A Pleasant Sunday Afternoon” was a common theme, also “Bethlehem Walks” just before Christmas and Easter Specials. The choir learned a lot from Marj as Choir Leader and teacher, about 400 items were practised presented over the years.

On this time of sharing and wishing them well on the next part of life’s journey the choir had secretly practised a few of the songs Marj had taught them, Marj was asked, and accepted, the invitation to conduct one of the pieces.

After all this there was a time of gift giving and a recounting of experiences shared with them as they lived and shared in life in the Riverina.

We wish them well as they travel this vast country to live closer to their extended family in Western Australia.
